Curriculum Vitae and Scientific Activities

Born in 1948. Studied music, Philosophy and German literature in Cologne, Stuttgart and Heidelberg. 1982 doctorate with a thesis on Fichte's Concept of Intellectual Intuition (Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg; referees: Prof. Dr. Dieter Henrich, Prof. Dr. Hans Friedrich Fulda), published 1986. 1993 Habilitation with a study on the Foundation of Systematic Philosophy in Marburg Neo-Kantianism and in early Martin Heidegger (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen), published 1996.
Scholarship of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. 1994 DAAD Visiting Lecturer at Karls- University, Prague; 1996 Substitute Chair at the Department of Philosophy, Eberhard Karls-University, Tübingen. 2010/2011 Fellow of the Carl Friedrich von Siemens Foundation, Munich, with a project in music philosophy. Visiting professorships in Beijing and Nanjing. From 1998 until retirement in 2013, University Professor for the History of Philosophy at Martin Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. 2006-2018 Organizer of the international concert series aula konzerte halle.
